Department of Social Welfare

Introduction

The Department of Social Welfare is an interdisciplinary program that focuses on integrating welfare and counseling to enhance the quality of life in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The department aims to train competent social workers who can address diverse social risks and challenges, such as dehumanization, family disintegration, population aging, low birth rates, polarization, and generational conflicts, while meeting the varied needs of individuals and society. Additionally, it fosters youth counselors capable of helping adolescents overcome critical challenges during this vital stage of life.

In a future society where artificial intelligence and machines replace human labor, social work and counseling remain essential areas that cannot be replaced by technology. To meet the growing demand for social welfare and its expanding scope, the program focuses on developing practical expertise in various fields, including child welfare, youth welfare, elderly care, disability support, community welfare, and volunteer services.

Moreover, the department offers a certified youth counseling program, the only national qualification in the field, to support the healthy development of children and adolescents, preparing students for essential roles in shaping a better future.
